SEE BETH WRITE...SEE DIANA DIRECT...SEE FTW PRODUCE..."SEE JANE QUIT"!

There's more than smoke in the air this month as we gear up for our production of "See Jane Quit"!  As the director of the show, I can tell you three things:

1) Our cast is a dream to watch and work with;
2) Our assistant director has the comic instincts of a savant; and
3) Our script is superbly smart and sweetly snarky, just like its author!

We are getting such a collective charge out of finding all the goodies hidden in this play amongst the rich characters, witty dialogue, and clever plot...I can't remember when directing a show has ever been this F.U.N.

Add to that the privilege and pleasure of having a REAL SET for once, one that's been expertly designed by Richart Schug, a Jackson newcomer who's been working at New Stage this past year, as well as freelance designing for Millsaps.  Incidentally, we need to give a shout-out of thanks to New Stage Theatre for hosting us again in The Warehouse Theatre space--we could not possibly do this show without them--as well as to Mad Genius for donating their mad design skills to our print and publicity materials.

We've still got a couple of weeks to go before opening night, but knowing that it only gets better from here on out, one thing is certain: you are going to LOVE it!

:) Diana Howell

PLOT POINT: The Ten Minute Play Project Gets to It!

CALLING ALL DIRECTORS AND ACTORS!
Registration is now OPEN for:
PLOT POINT: The Ten-Minute Play Project Gets to It!
Friday and Saturday, March 1-2, Broadmeadow Methodist Church

WE ONLY HAVE ONE NIGHT TO WRITE IT...
WE ONLY HAVE ONE DAY TO REHEARSE IT...
AND WE ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE (OR MAYBE TWO?) TO PERFORM IT!

Fondren Theatre Workshop’s ever-popular 24-Hour/Ten Minute Play Project returns for its 6th incarnation March 1-2. Up to six teams of writers, directors, and actors will gather at Broadmeadow Methodist Church on Friday night, March 1, to get their randomly assigned marching orders, and will then spend just under 24 hours writing and rehearsing brand new shows before presenting them to a live audience at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night, March 2. This year, there will be a bonus "encore" performance of the top three audience favorites at the monthly Playwright Night at Brent’s on Tuesday, March 5. PLEASE NOTE: you do NOT have to be available for the Tuesday night encore in order to participate in the official weekend event–we will fill in gaps as needed with other actors/readers for Playwright Night.

If you are at least 16 years old and are interested in participating as a Director or an Actor, you MUST PRE-REGISTER NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22, BY COMPLETING THE INFO BELOW AND EMAILING IT TO DIANA HOWELL at howelljd@aol.com. The registration fee is $8.00 per person, payable at our initial orientation meeting on Friday, March 1, and includes snacks and lunch on Saturday. Note: writers are exempt from registration fees. You will need to be available from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1 for orientation and team assignments, and then ALL DAY, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., on Saturday.

All directing and acting assignments will be made first-come, first-serve. FTW also reserves the right to make adjustments as needed to teams in order to provide the best shows possible for our audiences. The event is open to anyone with an interest in theatre, regardless of prior experience. SO LOOK NO FURTHER–JUST MARCH ON DOWN AND COME PLAY WITH US!
